Paediatric Life Support Course

Course overview

The paediatric life support course is designed for those responsible for looking after babies and children.  By the end of the course you will be able to manage ill and injured babies and children.

 

The course covers the European resuscitation guidelines on basic paediatric resuscitation.  Also covered on the course are areas of interest such as the management of injured babies and children and how to recognise and treat common medical conditions such as asthma and seizures.

 

During the practical resuscitation lessons baby and child resuscitation manikins are used.  The course requires involvement in both theory and practical sessions.

 

Course syllabus includes:

  • Resuscitation
  • Dealing with an unconscious child
  • Control of bleeding
  • Management of burns
  • Head injuries
  • Signs and recognition of medical conditions
