Intercollegiate Basic Surgical Skills Course

With South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust we run two different surgical skills courses in conjunction with the Royal College of Surgeons:

Intercollegiate Basic Surgical Skills Course

The Basic Surgical Skills Intercollegiate course is widely viewed as a cornerstone course for all trainees taking up their first surgical position.

Over two highly practical days, you will learn a range of essential basic surgical skills and techniques within a controlled workshop environment which aims to teach, assess and certify the ability of each trainee to use safe and sound surgical techniques that are common to all forms of surgery.

The course is designed for doctors who are preparing for the MRCS examination and completion of this course is a mandatory requirement for any trainee pursing a career in surgery.

Surgical Skills for Students (SSS)

Developed exclusively for medical students, this highly interactive one-day course will teach you how to safely perform basic surgical procedures.

Working with animal tissue, simulations and a variety of jigs, you will develop essential core skills within a workshop environment.
