Course overview

A nationally standardised, interactive one-day course Recognition & Response in Child Protection has been developed by Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health (RCPCH), National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) and the Advanced Life Support Group (ALSG).

 

The course has been developed for doctors in training mainly in paediatrics and accident & emergency, although doctors in training working in general practice and other specialty areas may find aspects of the course relevant. 

 

What does it contain

A series of lectures and small group workshops, discussions and role plays cover the following areas: 

  • Introduction
  • Background
  • How do you feel?
  • Recognising child abuse and neglect
  • Introduction: what do you do including communication
  • Role plays: what do you do including communication
  • Working together with other professionals and parents
  • What did you learn today and where do you go from here?
